Having A Meeting, 2020
Named after the motion capture file of the same name, Hillary Clinton lookalike Teresa Barnwell* is having a meeting. Following a 3D body scan, the character is 3D animated with a motion capture file available online for download at Mixamo. The motion file exists in two versions: male and female. Placing the two gendered animations with the same body side by side, the work reflects on the reiteration of gender stereotypes in technologies, which eventually end up encoding gender norms on an ever-larger scale.
*Teresa Barnwell is a professional Hillary Clinton lookalike. Barnwell ended her career after the 2016 US Presidential Election, in which Hillary Clinton was the first female presidential candidate. Niquille produced this 3D scan of Barnwell during the production of the film The Fragility of Life (2017), a short film on the legality of virtual and physical body doubles and the vulnerability of identity.
