The work is an autonomous part of the broader series of re-imagined mirrors. But whereas the larger objects, as instruments, include the surrounding context within the melancholic act, the black hand mirror rescales that same act to a more personal and private moment.

Once put aside, the object seems to retreat into its base, as if to point out our own memento mori and the inexorable lapse of time.
