Maëlle Gross

Corporeality, 2020

30 seconds video | sound

What makes me as an individual part of a collective? What is my social body made of? Which information does it hold about me and my future?

The human body is constantly and systematically constructed, produced, supported by interactions with individuals present in our daily lives. Gross explores the idea of a narrational corpus that involves her mum and grandma. Through a metamorphosis of their forms, experiences and knowledge, they become a third person. Undivided, bonded, yet struggling to cope with each other.

In this exercise, Gross embodies their actions and their reactions, trying to take control, seeking answers to her fundamental questions.

Technical production support by Simon Senn.

Corporeality is part of in-app exhibition FitArt – Female Body.
